Isao is a Iaido master, whose sensory powers and sword skills are way above normal human abilities. Iaido is is the martial art of quickly drawing a sword for sudden attacks and Isao has shown remarkable, superhuman sensory skills in processing hand-eye coordination.


Isao was born on August 20, 1973 in Kawanishi, Hyōgo, Japan.

Early Life

Not much is known about Isao's early life.
Isao began learning the art at age five.

About Isao Machii

Isao can cut a small, speeding BB pellet in half which are travelling up to 350 MPH. He cannot see the pellet, but instead, uses ‘another sense of anticipatory processing,’ according to Ramani Durvasula from California State University.
Isao is the headmaster of his own samurai school, Shuushinryu Iai-Jutsu Hyouhou (The Art of Samurai Sword Technique of the Mastering Mind).
Isao holds a number of Guinness Book of World Records titles.
He can cut an arrow in half.
Isao is in the process of helping to make an industrial robot arm (Robot Motoman-MH24) which can perform Isao’s sword cuts and swings that makes him so famous.
He is also excellent at spear, darts, long sword and archery.

It is said that no one in the world has ever been able to accomplish the martial art abilities Isao has. His skills and precision are beyond any human capability.

“Most martial arts katana cuts to one mat” (8 times, beating his record the previous year of 7 cuts)
“Fastest 1,000 martial arts sword cuts” (36 minutes and 4 seconds)
“Most sword cuts to straw mats in three minutes” (252 times in 3 minutes)
“Fastest tennis ball cut by sword (820 km/h)”
