Julia Gunthel is known as the most flexible woman in the world or the Snake woman.

Born

Julia was born in the town of Kysl Orda, Kazakhstan, Russia on 20 October 1984.

Early Life

Julia’s extraordinary talent was discovered by her kindergarten teacher when she was only four years old during a gymnastics class.
She started performing for the public from the age of ten,
When she was sixteen years old she moved from Russia with her parents to the town of Leipzig in Germany.
Julia was so enthralled with gymnastics and acrobatics that joined an after school circus class to help her perfect her act.

In 2012, the Discovery Channel awarded Julia Gunthel the title of “The most flexible woman in the world”.
In 2009, Julia starred in the french movie, Micmacs directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
In 2010 she was in the movie Au four et au moulin: les coulisses de Micmacs à Tire-Larigot as well as the movie Hiss.
In 2012 Julia starred in the movie “Holy Motors “with Eva Mendes and Kylie Minogue.
Julia is 5ft 9in tall, ( or 1,76 meters) making her the tallest rubber woman. She can bend herself to fit into a 50cm x 50 cm box.
Julia is married and lives in Germany with her son Leon.
She works out allot but never follows a diet – she has been known to eat cake while on set filming.

Her favourite contortion position is the knot or pretzel position and she can stay in this position for hours.
Her favourite meal is Manti an Uzbecki speciality that consists of steamed dumplings filled with spicy meat.
Her favourite colour is Gold-Yellow
Julia’s favourite movie is “Leon the Professional” directed by Luc Besson.
To date she has sustained no injuries while performing her contortions.
Her favourite sing is “ you’ll see” performed by Madonna.

Genetic Or Learned

Julia suffers from a rare condition that makes her tendons more flexible than the average person, however she needs to exercise and train regularly to ensure she remains on top of her game. Her condition is known as hyper-mobility.

Guinness World Records

  • November 2007, In Germany, Julia burst three balloons with her back in 12 seconds winning her the record, which to date has not been broken.
  • June 2013 in Turkey, Julia won the record for the most beer bottles opened with her feet in one minute while in an elbow stand position.
  • In 2015, Julia set the record for the most flowers picked up with the mouth while in a contortion backbend in one minute by collecting an incredible eleven flowers and placing them in a vase.
