David Blaine is a magician, illusionist and can also perform enduring acts.


David Blaine White was born on 4th April 1973 in Brooklyn, New York.

Early Life

David Blaine was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York by a single mother. His mother was Russian Jewish and his father was half Italian and half Puerto Rican.
Later on, his mother got married to John Bukalo and they moved to Little Falls in New Jersey.
In 1997, when he was 4 years old, he saw a magician perform his acts and was really fascinated. From then on, he took a special interest in magic.
After they moved to New Jersey, David Blaine went to Passaic Valley Regional High school.
When he was 17, Blaine moved to Manhattan in New York.
From his own words, David Blaine says that children usually believe that everything is possible; the trick is just to never forget.

About David Blaine

David has some extremely advanced mental skills and magical skills as well that enables him to perform the very many outstanding feats.
In April 1999, David Blaine was buried underground alive for a whole seven days underneath a 3-ton water-filled tank. The only means of communication he had was a hand buzzer. Blaine went for 7 days without eating, he only drank water. This feat attracted attention from a lot of people from news men to residents, even Harry Houdini’s niece who said that her uncle had attempted a lot of endurance feats but none of them measured to this one.
In November 27th 2000, David Blaine was imprisoned inside an ice block for 62 hours. He was later on removed with the help of chainsaws. He was thereafter taken to hospital for fear and shock and it took him one month to completely recover and he swore never to repeat an endurance feat of such extent.
In May 22nd 2002 he was deposited on a pillar, 100 feet high, by a crane in New York. He stood continuously for 35 hours and later jumped onto a pile of cardboard boxes and suffered a mild concussion.
In September 5th 2003, David Blaine stayed inside a transparent case suspended 9 meters in the air. He went for 44 days without food and only drank water. He was later hospitalized.
In May 1st 2006, he was immersed inside a sphere filled with water containing isotonic saline for 7 days. After this act, researchers at Yale University made David Blaine a subject of study.

Researchers have observed that it is very unusual for a normal human body to perform these kinds of endurance feats. David was born with a very unique body and abilities.

Guinness World Records

On 30th April 2008, he broke the record of oxygen assisted static apnea which basically means holding breath, at the Oprah Winfrey show. He held his breath for 17 minutes 4 seconds.
